India women’s U19 team will face England in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 final on January 29. The match will begin at 5:15 PM IST at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa. 

The young Indian women’s team defeated New Zealand women in the semi-final by eight wickets. After restricting the Black Caps to 107/9, opener Shweta Sehrawat smashed a half-century (61 off 45 balls) in the run chase, helping India win by eight wickets and 34 balls to spare. 

India women’s U19 team finished on top of Group 1 of the Super Six stage, winning three of their four matches. Their only defeat in the entire tournament so far came against Australia Women in the Super Six phase, 

Shweta Sehrawat has been the star of the tournament for India, scoring 292 runs in six matches to be the leading run-scorer in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. Parshavi Chopra and Mannat Kashyap have been the best bowlers for India having taken nine and eight wickets respectively.

The English unit have remained unbeaten so far in the tournament. After getting bowled out for 99 runs in the semi-final against Australia women, they produced a stunning comeback to pick up a nervy three-run win. 

Hannah Baker picked up three wickets, while skipper Grace Scrivens returned with two crucial wickets as Australia were bowled out for 96 runs.

Scrivens has led the English contingent from the front and is their leading run-scorer in the tournament with 289 runs in six matches. She has also accounted for eight scalps with the ball.

Hannah Baker, on the other hand, is their leading wicket-taker with nine scalps in five matches, while Sophia Smale has picked eight wickets in just as many matches.
