India and Bangladesh's cricketing ties go back to more than three decades, when the Bangladesh Cricket Board-administered side was still an associate member of the ICC. It was only in 2000 when the Bangla Tigers became full members and were given the Test status by ICC. They played their first Test match against India in Dhaka, where visitors won by nine wickets.
The first match between India and the Bangladesh cricket team was in an ODI, played in the 1988 Asia Cup. The Dilip Vengsarkar-led side floored their opposition by nine wickets after an impeccable bowling performance restricted Bangladesh to 99/8 in 45 overs. The Indian cricket team eventually went on to clinch the Asia Cup title for the second time in the tournament’s history, after winning the inaugural edition in 1984.
All-in-all, the two sides have squared off in 65 encounters across formats, with India having a dominant record in all three disciplines of the game.

Highest team total in a Test innings: India declared at 687/6 in the first innings of the only Test during the Bangladesh tour of India in February 2017.
Lowest team total in a Test innings: Bangladesh scored just 91 runs in the second innings of the only Test during the India tour of Bangladesh in November 2000.
Most runs in Tests: India’s Sachin Tendulkar has accumulated 820 runs in seven Tests versus Bangladesh at an average of 136.66.
Most wickets in Tests: Former Team India pacer Zaheer Khan has scalped 31 wickets in seven clashes at an economy of 3.80.
Highest individual score in Tests: Sachin Tendulkar scored 248 not-out in 379 balls in the first Test at Dhaka in December 2004, which also happens to be his highest individual score in the longest format of the game.
Best bowling figures in Tests: Former Indian left-arm seamer, Irfan Pathan scalped 11 wickets while conceding only 96 runs, in the same match where Sachin Tendulkar smashed a double century.

Highest team total in an ODI innings: India put up a total of 409/8 in the third ODI of the India tour of Bangladesh 2022.
Lowest team total in an ODI innings: Chasing an ordinary target of 106 runs, the Bangla Tigers were bowled out for 58 in the second ODI of the India tour of Bangladesh in June 2014.
Most runs in ODIs: India’s Virat Kohli has scored 807 runs in 15 contests with the help of four tons and three half-centuries.
Most wickets in ODIs: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has taken 28 wickets from 21 matches at a respectable economy of 4.90.
Highest individual score in ODIs: India batter Ishan Kishan hit 210 off 131 balls, which included 24 fours and 10 maximums, in the third ODI of the India tour of Bangladesh 2022.
