The ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 is all set to get underway from September 18, 2022. Abu Dhabi will host the week-long event where eight teams will battle it out for the remaining two spots in next year’s showpiece event.

The matches are scheduled to take place at two venues, namely Sheikh Zayed Stadium and Tolerance Oval.

The eight participating teams have reached the penultimate stage via different routes. Two places are reserved for the teams that finished bottom in the previous edition of Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020. Bangladesh and Thailand finished bottom in their respective groups and hence they occupy two out of the eight spots here.

Talking about the rest of the teams, Zimbabwe, Scotland, United States of America, and United Arab Emirates qualified by winning their respective regional qualifiers. The East Asia Pacific region qualifier was canceled due to COVID-19 and thus, Papua New Guinea qualified as the highest ranked team from that region.

However, Ireland are the highest-ranked team from the qualifiers to not win their regional tournament.

The eight teams are divided into two groups of four. Each team will play the other three in their group once in a round-robin format.

The top two teams from each group will go through to the semis, with the winners of each semi-final progressing to the final and next year's ICC Women's World Cup 2023.
