A total of US$5.6 million has been allotted as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 prize money. The total pool is the exact amount as the prize money for the last edition in 2021.
The International Cricket Council (ICC), world cricket’s governing body, has announced that the winner of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will receive an amount of US$1.6 million.
Meanwhile, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 runners-up will pocket half the amount, US$800,000.
On the other hand, the two losing semi-finalists will take home US$400,000 each.
The ICC has further revealed that the eight teams that will get knocked out at the Super 12 stage will earn US$70,000 each.
The four sides that will get eliminated in the first round, meanwhile, will earn US$40,000 each.
Furthermore, teams can also earn additional prize money for winning individual matches in the first round and Super 12 stage.
Teams securing any victory in these two stages will receive a prize money of US$40,000 for each victory. There are 30 Super 12 stage matches and 12 first round matches.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are the eight teams that have directly qualified for the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
The other eight teams are divided into two groups of four and will play the first round. While Namibia, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, UAE are placed in Group A, Group B comprises West Indies, Scotland, Ireland and Zimbabwe.
The top two from each group in the first round will move into the Super 12.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
