The second edition of the Global T20 Canada is in full swing. Studded with stars, the tournament has seen its fair share of unconventional happenings in the midst.

Right from Yuvraj Singh dominating the headlines to Brendon McCullum announcing his retirement post the tournament, this edition of the T20 extravaganza has been nothing short of a treat for the neutrals.

With the tournament reaching its decisive end, here we bring to you five peculiar instances from the tournament.

Stay at the crease, Yuvraj

Playing his first match following the retirement from international cricket, Yuvraj Singh faced a Chris Gayle-led Vancouver Knights in the season opener. And it took him a whopping 27 balls to score a mere 14 runs before being dismissed in arguably one of the most bizarre manners.

Facing medium-pacer Rizwan Cheema, the former World Cup winner got a thin edge. Keeper Tobias Visse, however, missed the opportunity, but luckily for him, the ball hit the stumps. And although Yuvraj’s leg was well inside the crease, the southpaw began his walk towards the pavilion even before the umpire had made a decision.

 Selfie please, Malik

Following a disappointing tenure at the World Cup, Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik showcased there’s more in his tank than his critics have talked about. And while his 28-ball 41 remained the highlight of his performance against Brampton Wolves, another one of his humble acts grabbed the headlines.

Having been deployed near the boundary ropes, the Vancouver Knights all-rounder saw the ball sailing above the rope, and as soon as he reached towards it, a group of fans approached him for photographs. And guess what, he gave them a moment for the savers.

Innings end before it even began

Leading Toronto Nationals against Montreal Tigers, Yuvraj walked into bat following Heinrich Klaasen’s dismissal. Facing Fawad Ahmed, the 37-year-old scored no run in his first ball. In the second delivery, he tried to attempt a sweep shot but felt a backache. Yuvraj decided to end his innings right there as he thought he could not bear the pain and walked back to the dugout.

Afridi’s hilarious chat with Riaz

During Edmonton Royals’ clash against Brampton Wolves, a hilarious conversation between Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz during the latter’s final ball of the innings was enough for the fans to chuckle for the rest of the game.

Hitting the final delivery down the ground, Afridi completed a run. Riaz, on the other hand, had wished for another and when he asked for it, this conversation ensued:

Riaz: “Lala doosra run lena hai kya? (Lala should we take a second run?)"

Afridi: "Pagal hai? Bowling koun karega? (Are you mad? Who will bowl then?)"

A simple catch made to look awesome

Yuvraj just cannot stay out of headlines, right? This particular incident happened when Toronto Nationals locked horns with Montreal Tigers. Deployed at mid-off, Lendl Simmons hit the ball straight towards the all-rounder. And while the catch was rather easy, Yuvraj made it look difficult as he had to juggle the ball thrice before eventually catching it. Quite a close call!
