Established in 1969, Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur is the venue for the first T20I between India and New Zealand.

Operating under the aegis of Rajasthan Cricket Association, the stadium has played host to a one-off Test between Indian and Pakistan in 1987, and has hosted several Men’s ODIs and Women’s ODIs over the years. 

The venue hosted its first ODI match in 1983 and was also a venue for two matches in the 1987 and 1996 World Cups.

Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium is also the home ground for Rajasthan cricket team in the domestic circuit and the Indian T20 League side, Team Rajasthan.

The first T20I between India and New Zealand will be the first Twenty20 International to be played at the venue. 

Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium T20 records

Highest team total: The highest team total at Sawai Mansingh Stadium is 242/4 by Otago against Perth Scorchers in the 2013-14 Champions League T20. Opener Neil Broom scored a scintillating unbeaten 117 to steer Otago to a huge total and eventually emerge winners by 63 runs, with the opposition folding for 180 after a brief fight. 

Lowest team total: Uttar Pradesh were bundled out for just 58 runs against Railways’ score of 148/8 and registered the lowest-ever T20 score by any team at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium. Railways used six bowlers in the match as each one of them accounted for at least a wicket. 

Highest partnership: Team Mumbai openers Sachin Tendulkar and Dwayne Smith put on an unbeaten 163 for the first wicket against Team Rajasthan in the 2012 Indian T20 League, making it the highest partnership for any wicket at this venue. 

Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium Indian T20 League records

Most runs: Former Rajasthan skipper Ajinkya Rahane has scored the most runs (1100) at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in the Indian T20 League. The right-hander averages 39.29 and has a strike rate of 122.49 at the venue and has scored a ton and seven half-centuries as well.

Most wickets: Siddharth Trivedi has taken the most number of wickets (36) in 32 matches at this venue in the Indian T20 League. The fast bowler plied his trade with an economy rate of 7.32 while playing for Team Rajasthan.

Highest team total: Rajasthan scored a mammoth 197/1 against Team Bangalore in the 2008 edition of the Indian T20 League at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, riding on Graeme Smith’s unbeaten 75 at the top of the order. They won the match by 65 runs as Bangalore could manage just 132/9 in their 20 overs 

Lowest team total: The 23rd match of the 2013 Indian T20 League saw Mumbai being folded for a paltry 92 while chasing 180 against Rajasthan, courtesy of a three-wicket haul from James Faulkner. This remains the lowest Indian T20 League total ever recorded at the venue. 

Best bowling figures: Sohail Tanvir’s spell of 6/14 against Team Chennai in the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League is the best bowling spell at this venue. Chennai were able to score a mere 109 as Rajasthan chased the score with eight wickets to spare. Tanvir was awarded the Man of the Match award for his brilliant bowling figures.  

Highest individual score: Ajinkya Rahane holds the record for the highest individual score at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium when he played a magnificent innings of an unbeaten 105 for Rajasthan in the 2019 edition of the Indian T20 League, a knock that was studded with 11 boundaries and three sixes. Unfortunately, he ended up on the losing side as Delhi chased down the target with six wickets to spare.
