The Providence Stadium is one of the largest sporting venues located in Guyana.

Also popularly known as Guyana National Stadium, the Providence Stadium was established in 2006 with a seating capacity of 20,000.

It was built to host Super Eight matches in the ICC World Cup 2007 held in March and April.

The Providence Stadium was also one of the selected venues for the ICC World T20 2010.

It staged its first T20 International played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in that T20 World Cup. Since then, it has hosted 11 T20I matches so far.

Highest team total

The England cricket team recorded the highest team total at the Providence Stadium in T20 international cricket. During a Group D clash in the ICC World T20 2010, Eoin Morgan’s 55 and Luke Wright’s 45 helped England post 191/5 in their 20 overs. However, West Indies later defeated England by eight wickets (D/L method) in a rain-curtailed encounter.

Lowest team total 

The Uganda cricket team registered the lowest total at the Providence Stadium in the T20 international format. Chasing 174, Uganda were bundled out for 39 in 12 overs against West Indies in a T20 World Cup 2024 group match. Juma Miyagi (13 not out) was the only Uganda batter to reach double digits in the innings. For West Indies, Akeal Hosein was the wrecker-in-chief with 5/11. Earlier, Johnson Charles (44), Andre Russell (30), Rovman Powell (23), Sherfane Rutherford (22) and Nicholas Pooran (22) powered West Indies to 173/5 in their allotted overs. West Indies won the game by a massive 134 runs.

Most runs

The West Indies cricketer Nicholas Pooran has scored the most runs at the Providence Stadium in T20I cricket. The left-handed batter amassed 289 runs in nine matches at an average of 57.80 and a strike rate of 151.30. He has slammed three half-centuries in the T20I format at this venue.

Most wickets

Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi has picked up the most wickets at this venue in T20 internationals. The star left-arm pacer has already bagged nine wickets in just two T20I matches at an average of 2.88 and an economy of 3.54. West Indies duo of Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein share the second spot on the list with eight wickets each at this ground in T20I format.

Highest individual score

Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for the highest individual score at Providence Stadium in T20I cricket. While opening the batting for Sri Lanka, Jayawardene scored a magnificent hundred off just 64 balls against Zimbabwe in a group clash in the ICC World T20 2010. He was later dismissed for 100. Jayawardene’s knock powered Sri Lanka to 173/7 in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka later beat Zimbabwe by 14 runs (D/L method) in the T20 World Cup fixture.

Best bowling figures

Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi has the best bowling figures at the Providence Stadium in T20I cricket. The left-arm pacer registered brilliant figures of 4-0-9-5 against Uganda in a T20 World Cup 2024 group match. Defending 183, Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed Ronak Patel, Roger Mukasa, Riazat Ali Shah, Robinson Obuya and captain Brian Masaba to help bundle out Uganda for 58 in 16 overs. Farooqi's magnificent spell guided Afghanistan to a 125-run victory.

Highest partnership

Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran hold the record for the highest partnership at the Providence Stadium in T20I cricket. During a T20 World Cup 2024 group match, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran forged a 154-run partnership for the opening wicket to help Afghanistan post 183/5 in their 20 overs. While Gurbaz scored 76, Zadran added 70. Later, Afghanistan bundled out Uganda for 58 to secure a comprehensive win.
