Last season’s finalist Team Gujarat were eliminated from the Indian T20 League 2024 playoffs contention after their match against Team Kolkata was abandoned due to rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 13.

After the Gujarat vs Kolkata Indian T20 League 2024 match was abandoned, the Shubman Gill-led outfit was knocked out of the playoffs race as they now have 11 points from 13 matches.

With just one league game left, Gujarat can reach a maximum of 13 points, which won’t be enough for them to finish in the top four.

On the other hand, two-time winners Team Kolkata are now guaranteed a top-two finish regardless of their result in their final league game against Team Rajasthan scheduled to be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on May 19.

Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata are placed at the top of the Indian T20 League 2024 standings with 19 points from 13 matches with an impressive net run-rate of +1.428.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow are the six teams that will battle for the remaining three playoffs spots in the Indian T20 League 2024.

With that being said, a few upcoming matches could be abandoned due to rain forecast this week.
