Pretoria Capitals were bowled out for the lowest total in SA20 history against Sunrisers Eastern Cape during the second edition of South Africa’s T20 tournament in 2024.

Put in to bat, Pretoria Capitals were bundled out for 52 in 13.3 overs by defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the St George's Park in Gqeberha. 

Prior to their batting misfortune in Gqeberha, Durban's Super Giants held the previous record for the lowest total in SA20 history. 

During the inaugural edition of SA20, Pretoria Capitals bowled out Durban's Super Giants for 80 in Durban.

Apart from the Capitals and the Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings have also been skittled out for less than 100 in SA20. Know the lowest totals in SA20

Pretoria Capitals registered the lowest total in SA20 history. Led by captain Wayne Parnell, the Capitals were shot out for 52 in 13.3 overs against hosts Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 2024. Electing to bowl first, reigning champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape rode on a sensational bowling performance to bowl out the Capitals for an embarrassing total. Right-arm pacer Ottniel Baartman was the wrecker-in-chief for SEC as he bagged four wickets. Australia fast bowler Daniel Worrall picked up three scalps while South Africa pacer Marco Jansen took two wickets. Will Jacks top-scored for the Capitals with 12. In reply, the defending champions chased down the target in just 6.5 overs and won the game by nine wickets.

Durban's Super Giants | 80 vs Pretoria Capitals | 2023

Durban’s Super Giants have recorded the second-lowest total in SA20. During the first edition of SA20 in 2023, Durban’s Super Giants were bundled out for 80 against Pretoria Capitals in Durban. Opting to bat first, the Quinton de Kock-led Super Giants lost wickets at regular intervals as they were skittled out for the lowest total in the T20 tournament at that time. For the hosts, Heinrich Klaasen top-scored with 31 off 24 balls. Left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy scalped three wickets while the likes of Wayne Parnell, Eathan Bosch and Anrich Nortje picked up two wickets each for the Capitals. Will Jacks later slammed a 25-ball 56 to guide the Capitals to an eight-wicket win with 74 balls to spare.

Joburg Super Kings | 81 vs Paarl Royals | 2023

Joburg Super Kings feature third on the list for the lowest totals in SA20. The Faf du Plessis-led Super Kings were shot out for 81 in 17.2 overs against Paarl Royals in the fourth game of SA20 2023. Electing to bat first, the Super Kings lost seven wickets in the first nine overs in Paarl. Tailenders Lizaad Williams (17 not out), Alzarri Joseph (13) and Aaron Phangiso (10) later added crucial runs in the last few overs to guide the visitors to a somewhat respectable total. For the Royals, Bjorn Fortuin and Evan Jones were the standout bowlers with three wickets each. In reply, the Royals chased down the target in 10.3 overs as they secured a comprehensive seven-wicket victory.
