The Indian women’s cricket team and the English women’s cricket team played each other for the first time in the ICC Women’s World Cup on January 1, 1978. England Women won that day in the 50-over encounter by nine wickets after India Women posted only 63 runs on the scoreboard.

Since that clash at the Eden Gardens, the two teams have played each other on 116 occasions across all formats, contesting in numerous exciting matches, especially in ODIs and T20Is.

The English side has a good record against the Indian team in all three formats. England Women have won 19 of the 26 T20Is against India Women. Meanwhile, the head-to-head record extends to 40-34 in favour of England in ODIs, while it’s 2-1 in India’s favour in Test cricket.

Highest team total: England have registered the highest team total in this fixture, scoring 199/3 to chase down India’s 198/4 in March 2018 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. 

Lowest team total: The Indian women’s cricket team were restricted to 88/8 at Taunton in June 2011, a match which the English women won by 46 runs. It is the lowest team total in T20Is between India and England. 

Most runs: Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has scored the most runs in this fixture in the 20-over format. Mandhana has amassed 660 runs in 18 matches, while maintaining an average of 40.53 and a strike-rate of 143.73.

Most wickets: Katherine Sciver-Brunt, England Women’s bowling all-rounder, has picked up 23 wickets, the most by any player in this fixture. She averages 16.21 runs per wicket against India and boasts an economy rate of 5.44.

Highest individual score: Danni Wyatt smashed 124 runs off 64 balls in the above-mentioned match at the Brabourne Stadium, forming the backbone of England’s successful 199-run chase. It is the highest individual score in India vs England WT20Is.

Best bowling figures: Renuka Singh's spell of 5/15 during the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 is the best bowling figures in this fixture. This is the only five-fer registered in Women's T20 Internationals between India and England.

Highest partnership: Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj’s partnership of 129 runs in the March 2018 game at Brabourne is the highest partnership in T20Is between India Women and England Women. Unfortunately for India, it came in a losing cause.

Highest team total: India’s 333/5 at Canterbury in September 2022 is the highest team total in ODIs between the two teams. Harmanpreet Kaur was the star batter, scoring 143 not out off 111 balls as India registered a comfortable win.

Lowest team total: England Women were bowled out for 50 at Silchar in December 2005, which is the lowest team total in this fixture. Jhulan Goswami’s five-for set up the 10-wicket success for India Women.

Most runs: Mithali Raj has scored 2,005 runs for India Women against England Women in ODIs. Her tally is the most runs scored by any player in this head-to-head. In fact, she is the only player with more than 2000 runs in this fixture, while Charlotte Edwards with 1,102 runs is the next best.

Most wickets: Jhulan Goswami boasts the most wickets in India-England WODIs, with 78 scalps in 59 matches. Goswami maintained an impressive economy rate of 3.14 and averaged 19.20 runs per wicket in this fixture.

Highest individual score: England Women’s Claire Taylor smashed 156 runs off 151 balls against India Women in a winning effort at Lord’s in August 2006. Her brisk innings, which included nine fours, is the highest individual score in ODIs between the two teams.

Best bowling figures: Anya Shrubsole holds the record for the best bowling figures in this fixture. Shrubsole picked up six wickets, while conceding only 46 runs, at Lord’s in July 2017. It turned out to be a match-winning spell as the English team won by nine runs.

Highest partnership: Smriti Mandhana and Punam Raut stitched together a 144-run stand against England Women at Derby in June 2017. It is the highest partnership in this fixture.

India Women vs England Women in Tests

Highest team total: The Indian women’s cricket team scored 467 at Taunton in August 2002, which is the highest team total in this head-to-head in the longest format. Mithali Raj top scored with 214 runs, while Anjum Chopra, Hemlata Kala and Jhulan Goswami notched fifties. The match ended in a draw.

Lowest team total: The English side hold the record for the lowest team total in India Women vs England Women Tests. Charlotte Edwards and Co. were bundled over for 92 in the first innings at Wormsley in August 2014. Niranjana Nagarajan was the pick of the bowlers for India with a spell of 4/19, helping India to a six-wicket win.

Most runs: Just like in WODIs, Mithali Raj is the leading run-scorer in Test cricket in matches between the two teams. The former Indian captain scored 511 runs in seven matches against England, including the above-mentioned double-century at Taunton in August 2002.

Most wickets: Jhulan Goswami has picked the most wickets in India-England women’s Tests too. The Indian speedster scalped 30 wickets in 12 innings, which included three five-wicket hauls in an innings and one ten-for in a match. 

Highest individual score: India Women’s Mithali Raj amassed 214 runs against England Women at Taunton in August 2002. It is the highest individual score in India vs England W-Tests. Her mammoth innings featured 19 fours as she maintained a strike-rate of 52.57.

Best bowling figures: India’s Neetu David, with a spell of 8/53, claims the best bowling figures in this head-to-head in the longest format. Her efforts helped the team restrict England to 194 in the third innings at Jamshedpur in November 1995. However, England eventually won the match by two runs.

Highest partnership: Janette Brittin and Carole Hodges boast the highest Test partnership in this fixture. The English duo stitched a partnership of 207 runs for the second wicket at Worcester in July 1986. Despite their admirable effort, the match ended as a draw.
