Hyderabad and Bangalore cross swords at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, April 14, on the back of contrasting results in their first games of the Indian T20 League.

David Warner's Hyderabad faltered in their opening game against Kolkata and aim to make things right when they take on a Bangalore team, which is in high spirits after registering a nerve-biting two-wicket win over defending champions Mumbai in the opening game of the season.

As far as the Hyderabad vs Bangalore head-to-head record is concerned, the former leads with 10 wins in 17 matches and have won three of the last five meetings between as well. Kane Williamson's return to the team could spark a change in fortunes for Hyderabad but a certain Glenn Maxwell could outshine the New Zealander.

Both teams may have not returned with many positive results at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, but it is Virat Kohli's Bangalore who have a marginal edge over Hyderabad as they have three wins at the venue. David Warner's men have played four times at Chepauk but have failed to pick up a win.

Toss is a crucial factor for Indian T20 League matches at Chennai, and the toss record between the teams has a minor difference. While Hyderabad have won three tosses, Bangalore have won the toss twice.

David Warner, one of the Indian T20 League's most prolific batsmen, faltered in Hyderabad's opening game against Kolkata and will aim for redemption against Bangalore. The southpaw has amassed 700 runs in 18 meetings with Virat Kohli's men and is poised to stitch a formidable partnership with England's Jonny Bairstow who anchored the batting in Hyderabad's first match alongside Manish Pandey.

On similar lines, Virat Kohli will also be under pressure to kickstart Indian T20 League 2021 with a strong performance with the bat. The Indian cricket team captain has 531 runs in 16 meetings with Hyderabad and onlookers can fancy the competition's leading run-getter to become the first player to cross the 6000-run mark in the T20 extravaganza.

Speaking of bowlers, Hyderabad is likely to rely on the pace strengths of Sandeep Sharma to exploit the inconsistencies of Bangalore's batting order. The 27-year-old has returned with 23 wickets in 15 innings against their Wednesday's opponents, and skipper Warner will deploy him to spell trouble for the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

For Bangalore, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is expected to be the wrecker-in-chief. The 30-year-old failed to take a wicket in his 100th game and will be raring to return to Chennai, and make up for the missed opportunities. Chahal will fancy his key battles with the Hyderabad middle order and prove to be a game-changer in the middle overs.
