The Docklands Stadium, which is a multi-purpose sports venue, is located in the Docklands area of Melbourne city, Australia.

Also known as Marvel Stadium for sponsorship reasons, the ground has a seating capacity of approximately 53,000.

Primarily used for Australian rules football, the venue has been used by the 2018-19 BBL champions Melbourne Renegades as their home ground since 2011.

As far as international cricket matches are concerned, Docklands Stadium has staged 12 ODIs between 2000 and 2006, which are the only international matches the venue has hosted so far.

Let’s have a look at T20 records at the Docklands Stadium, Melbourne.

Docklands Stadium T20 records

Highest total

The highest total in a T20 match at the Docklands Stadium is 223/8 made by Hobart Hurricanes against Melbourne Renegades in a league stage match of the Big Bash League 2016-17.

Batting first, Melbourne Renegades posted a huge total of 222/4 thanks to fifties by Tom Cooper and skipper Aaron Finch.

In reply, Ben McDermott and George Bailey led the charge for the Hurricanes, helping them breach the formidable target in a thrilling last-ball win.

Lowest total

Melbourne Renegades were bundled out for 57 runs in a league phase fixture of BBL 2014-15, which is the lowest total recorded in T20s at the Docklands Stadium.

Chasing Melbourne Stars’ 170, Melbourne Renegades succumbed to their third loss in their opening four matches as an all-round bowling performance by the Stars rattled the hosts, with only Tom Cooper getting a double-digit score.

Highest individual score

Hobart Hurricanes’ wicket-keeper batter Ben McDermott holds the record for the highest individual score in a T20 at the Docklands Stadium.

He scored a fantastic 65-ball 127 against Melbourne Renegades in a league encounter of the BBL 2021-22. The knock, played at a strike rate of 195.38, featured nine fours and sixes apiece.

McDermott also has the second-highest individual score in a T20 at this venue to his name, when he scored a match-winning 53-ball 114 in the same contest where Hobart Hurricanes registered the highest team total at this ground.

Best bowling

Five cricketers have taken four-wicket hauls at the Docklands Stadium in T20s on different instances, with former Melbourne Renegades all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan registering the best figures.

In the BBL 2014-15 match against Brisbane Heat, Shakib Al Hasan’s terrific spell of 4/13 rattled the James Hopes-led Brisbane Heat, who were bowled out for just 80 on the board.

Melbourne Renegades won the match by five wickets, with six overs to spare.

Melbourne Renegades' Nathan Rimmington and Kane Richardson, Perth Scorchers’ Jhye Richardson and Hobart Hurricanes’ Nathan Ellis are the others to take four wickets in a T20 at this ground.

Highest partnership

Perth Scorchers’ pair of Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger holds the record for the highest partnership of 171* in T20s at the Docklands Stadium.

A league match of the BBL 2015-16 between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers saw the former post a total of 170/4, courtesy of captain Aaron Finch’s half-century.

With a target of 171 in sight, Scorchers’ openers came out all guns blazing and won it for their team with all 10 wickets in hand. While Shaun Marsh scored a 54-ball 76, skipper Michael Klinger smashed 90 off 58 balls consisting of seven fours and three maximums.
