South Africa batter AB de Villiers holds the record for the fastest 150 in ODI cricket.

During a Pool B encounter against West Indies in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, de Villiers smashed 150 off just 64 balls, laced with 17 fours and eight sixes at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

AB de Villiers remained unbeaten on 162 off 66 balls at a staggering strike rate of 245.45 as the middle-order batter’s magnificent innings powered South Africa to 408/5 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 151 as South Africa secured a massive 257-run victory.

England wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler has scored the second-fastest 150 in ODI format.

Buttler hammered 150 off 65 balls against hosts Netherlands in the first ODI of the three-match series in Amstelveen. The right-handed batter was unbeaten on 162 off 70 balls as he helped England post a world record ODI score of 498/4 in their allotted 50 overs.

Buttler’s incredible innings included seven fours and 14 maximums.

In response, Netherlands managed to score 266 in their 50 overs as the visitors won the match by 232 runs.

Jos Buttler features again in the list of fastest 150 in ODI format. The destructive batter scored 150 off 76 balls against West Indies in St George’s, Grenada in 2019. He was dismissed the very next ball as West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite cleaned him up.

Buttler’s 150 off 77 balls powered England to post a mammoth score of 418/6 in their 50 overs. During the run-chase, West Indies gave a great fight but fell short by just 29 runs.

Buttler hit 13 fours and 12 sixes in his scintillating innings.

Shane Watson recorded the fourth-fastest 150 in ODI cricket during Australia’s tour of Bangladesh in Mirpur in 2011.

Chasing a target of 230, opening batter Watson brought his 150 up in just 83 balls to give the Aussies a great start. Watson remained unbeaten on 185 off 96 balls to help Australia chase down the total in just 26 overs. His innings was laced with 15 fours and 15 maximums. Australia won the match by nine wickets.

West Indies’ Chris Gayle and Sharjeel Khan of Pakistan are next on the list, both having scored ODI 150s in just 85 balls.

While Gayle smashed 150 off 85 balls against England at National Cricket Stadium in St George, Sharjeel Khan hammered 150 off 85 balls against Ireland in Dublin in 2016. Sharjeel got out the very next ball after hitting 16 boundaries and nine maximums. On the other hand, Gayle was dismissed for 162 off 92 balls after an innings which included 11 fours and 14 sixes.
