The England cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team all are set to battle for the T20 World Cup 2022 trophy on Sunday, November 13, 2022, which is also a repeat of the ICC Cricket World Cup 1992 final.

The two teams first faced each other way back in a drawn Test match in June 1954 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, England.

Since then, the two sides have locked horns in some exciting encounters, the most important one being the 1992 World Cup final, as mentioned earlier.

Skipper Imran Khan led from the front with a fine knock of 72 runs. Javed Miandad, who is regarded as one of the best batters Pakistan has ever produced, too scored a half-century to help his team post 249/6.

In reply, England’s Neil Fairbrother was the lone warrior with a steady 70-ball 62 as pacer Wasim Akram and spinner Mushtaq Ahmed bagged three wickets each to clinch their only 50-over World Cup title so far.

Another clash where the two teams stole the limelight was the third ODI of the Pakistan tour of England and Ireland 2016. The Englishmen hammered the Men in Green by 169 runs after scoring 444/3 batting first. It was the then record for the highest total in an ODI match, which they bettered twice - in June 2018 and June 2022.

Overall, England and Pakistan have met in 207 matches in Test, ODI and T20I combined, with the former having a dominant record in each format.
