Chennai all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian T20 League season owing to a groin injury he picked during his side's five-wicket loss against Delhi on Saturday.

“Dwayne Bravo is ruled out of the Indian T20 League due to a groin injury,” Chennai CEO Kashi Viswanathan told PTI.

Bravo, who has been an integral part of Chennai's success over the years, played just six games this season, picking as many wickets at an economy of 8.57 and scoring a mere seven runs with the bat. Bravo injury represents a massive loss for team Chennai, who after 10 rounds of games, sit at the bottom of the table with just three victories.

The 2020 Indian T20 League season is going from bad to worse for the team, who already lost their veteran players like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh even before the tournament started. That coupled with the substandard form of MS Dhoni and others is doing no good to the team. Viswanathan added that at this point of time, the team is direly missing their veterans.

“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the Chennai unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” Viswanathan further said.

For Bravo, he picked up a niggle during Chennai's defeat against Delhi last weekend; a match where the Caribbean all-rounder wasn't available to bowl the final over. It was initially quoted that he would miss a few games, but now it has been confirmed that he is flying back home due to the injury. With that being done, it remains to be seen whether Chennai bring Imran Tahir back in the line-up or not. The three-time Indian T20 League champions opted to go with Josh Hazlewood against Rajasthan and the Australian did pretty well, conceding just 19 runs for one wicket in his four overs.
