The Indian cricket team start its white-ball series preparations against England with a warm-up T20 match against Derbyshire on Friday, July 1.

The fixture is one of the two warm-up games India will play before the T20I series against England from July 7.

Furthermore, it will be played on the same day as the Jasprit Bumrah-led team takes on England in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston.

As things stand, the Men in Blue team that participated in the recent two-game T20I series against Ireland will play against Derbyshire.

The India squad - led by Hardik Pandya - registered a 2-0 cleansweep against Ireland with Deepak Hooda the top run-getter in the series with 151 runs.

Victories in the T20Is against Ireland meant India have won four of their last five T20 games.

Derbyshire, meanwhile, have also lost just one of their last five T20 games. Their last outing came against Lancashire in the ongoing T20 Blast 2022, where half-centuries from skipper Shan Masood (70) and Wayne Madsen (75) inspired the team to a five-run victory.

The warm-up T20 match between Derbyshire and India will be played at the County Ground in Derbyshire. The venue has hosted only two ODIs in the past, both serving as New Zealand’s World Cup games against Sri Lanka (1983) and Pakistan (1999).
