Star Aussie opener Chris Lynn initiated a donation for the raging menace that is the Australian bushfires by pledging $250 to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal for every six that he hits for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

Following the opener’s announcement, Melbourne Stars’ skipper, Glenn Maxwell also joined suit, matching the same amount that Lynn pledged for each six. Maxwell had also previously become a hero when he reacted quickly to put out a bushfire near the team hotel, along with teammate Dale Steyn.

Also joining the duo was explosive left-handed batsman D’Arcy Short, who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL and was also added to the Australian side for the upcoming ODI series against India.

Glenn Maxwell then put out an Instagram post, collating the trio’s pledges and counting the number of sixes each of them have hit in the Big Bash League so far. He also thanked the firefighters for the incredible effort they put in.

The bushfires have been a big problem in Australia for many years now and has been especially severe this year, with several people losing their lives in the process. A BBL game between the Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers had to be abandoned due to poor visibility and extreme smog caused by bushfires.

Several people have spoken up against the issue and Australia Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has been criticized for his reactions, with people refusing to shake his hand when he visited a community recently.

Meanwhile, Chris Lynn hit an unbeaten 88 off 55 balls for the Brisbane Heat against the Hobart Hurricanes, an innings which included three sixes, making the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal richer by $750, and it can further swell its donations when D’Arcy Short bats later in the innings.
