Hosts Bangladesh will look to avenge their three-wicket loss in the first Test match in Chattogram when they take on West Indies for the second and final match of the Test series in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium starting from Thursday, February 11.

Interestingly, although Bangladesh have grown to become a strong home side in the recent past, West Indies enjoy a superior record against the hosts in their backyard.

Not only in the overall head-to-head in Tests, where West Indies lead Bangladesh by 11-4, but the Men in Maroon have been dominant in Dhaka as well, winning two of the three matches played.

However, discounting the tremendous momentum that West Indies' win in Chattogram gave them, Bangladesh have been the better side of late. They have won three of their five home Test matches and two of their last five home Test matches against West Indies.

While the Bangla Tigers have lost two of their last three matches at the Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium against West Indies, the hosts have won four of the last five Test matches they have played in Dhaka. In fact, Bangladesh's last two first innings score in Test matches played in Dhaka are more than encouraging, making the venue a fortress for them.

After brilliant individual performances hogged all the limelight in the first Test match, similar heroics are expected in the second Test match. And Bangladesh have already lost talisman Shakib-al-Hasan to an injury, which was the primary reason in the hosts losing the match in the second innings.

While an experienced Soumya Sarkar has been recalled to replace Shakib, the former skipper remains irreplaceable and his absence will heavily benefit West Indies and title the match in the visitors' favour.
