After registering a historic T20I series win over Australia, the Bangladesh cricket team will welcome New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, starting from September 1 to September 10. All matches will be played at the Shere Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
This will be New Zealand’s first tour of Bangladesh since 2013. However, the two teams met earlier this year when the Tigers toured the country. The Black Caps completed a 3-0 series whitewash in the limited-overs series.
While New Zealand haven’t played T20 cricket since their final T20I against Bangladesh - Apr 1, 2021- Bangladesh are coming on the back of a 4-1 series win over Australia. They will be roaring in confidence as star players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das, who missed the Australia series, are back in the team.
As for the Kiwis, Tom Latham will lead the team in the absence of skipper Kane Williamson. The likes of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson and Martin Guptill have been rested as well. Matt Henry has been called up to the New Zealand squad as a replacement for opener Finn Allen, who tested positive for COVID-19 upon arriving in Bangladesh.
