Six-time winners Australia will cross swords with defending champions England in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 final at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand on Sunday, April 3. The match will start at 6:30 AM IST.
Australia women have been the only unbeaten side in the ongoing edition of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, having won all their eight matches so far.
Led by captain Meg Lanning, Australia women thrashed West Indies women by 157 runs in the semi-final to storm into Sunday’s summit clash. Earlier in the group stage, the Aussies topped the standings with 14 points after their seven matches.
On the other hand, England women have made an impressive turnaround after losing their first three matches in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. The Heather Knight-led England women went on to win all their remaining four matches to book their place in the semi-final after finishing third in the standings with eight points.
In the semi-final, the England women’s cricket team defeated South Africa by 137 runs to seal their place in the final on Sunday.
The Aussies earlier defeated England women by 12 runs in their group stage match in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 and will start as favourites to clinch a record seventh title.
