Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will start their three-match T20I series from Wednesday, March 17 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The Afghanistan cricket team’s last T20I action came in March a year ago, where they secured a 2-1 win over Ireland before the pandemic brought sport to a halt.

Afghanistan cricket captain Asghar Afghan believes the upcoming three-game affair will aid their preparations for the Asia Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup, to be played later this year. Watch the Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe T20I series live in India.

"It will give us a good idea," Asghar Afghan said. "We have good experience already in T20 format but the more we play, the better we adapt ourselves."

Afghanistan recently announced their 15-man squad for the T20I series, with five players including Mujeeb Ur Rahman still in contention for selection once their ongoing visa complications are resolved.

For the Zimbabwe cricket team, Milton Shumba, Faraz Akram and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe will join the squad that played in the Test series. Brendan Taylor and Craig Irvine will sit out of the T20I series as well as they still haven’t recovered from their illness.

As far as the Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe head-to-head T20I record is concerned, Afghanistan have won eight times in nine matches with Zimbabwe winning the latest meeting by seven wickets at Chattogram in 2019.
