Afghanistan Under-19 cricket team will host Sri Lanka Under-19 for a two-match ODI Series in Abu Dhabi on April 1 and 2. Both matches will be played at Tolerance Oval and will be available for live streaming in India.

The series is being hosted by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to polish the youth team ahead of the U19 Asia Cup in December this year and also the U19 World Cup scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka early next year. Sri Lanka has also made the cut for Asia Cup and the World Cup.

The two teams faced each other twice in the recently-concluded trilateral series which was won by Bangladesh.

In the first match, a brilliant 88 from 59 balls from Haroon Khan helped take Afghanistan from 92/4 to 298/10 in the first innings. Yama Arab’s Player of the Match performance of 4/41 in eight overs then helped Afghanistan bundle out Sri Lanka for 236 and win the match by 62 runs.

The second match was a much closer affair. Afghan captain Numan Shah led Afghanistan’s charge with a 116 as the hosts put on 323/7 batting first. Sri Lankan captain Shevon Daniel then almost single-handedly won the match for the Lankans with 140 off 115 balls but his team fell short by 4 runs. Afghanistan’s Bashir Ahmad took 7/54 in 10 overs.
