Organised by the Asian Cricket Council, the ACA Women's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 is the inaugural edition of the tournament and will begin on Monday, June 12.
The aim of this T20 tournament is to develop the women’s game in Asia, especially in the participating countries.
As many as eight teams will feature in this 20-over-per-side tournament. These teams include the A teams of four countries with full ODI status along with four more sides from associate nations.
Thailand’s A team withdrew from this tournament after visa issues. The eight teams that will be participating in this tournament are Bangladesh A, India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
These sides have been divided into two groups comprising four teams each. Hong Kong, Nepal, India A, and Pakistan A are in Group A, while Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, Malaysia, and UAE make up Group B.
All teams will square off against each other once in their respective groups and the top two sides at the end of all the group-stage encounters will progress to the semi-finals.
The first-placed team from Group A will face the second-placed team from Group B in one semi-final and vice versa. The winners of the two semi-finals will compete in the final on Wednesday, June 21.
A total of 15 matches will be played over the course of this tournament and all the matches will be held at the Mission Road Ground in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
