India at Tokyo 2020 Olympics Day 6: As it happened
The Indian contingent produced some impressive performances across various disciplines on Day 6 of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Thursday, July 29.
India star shuttler PV Sindhu stormed into the quarter-final after defeating Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark in the women's singles event. Furthermore, archer Atanu Das pulled off a massive upset as he stunned Korea's Oh Jin-Hyek to enter the round of 16. To make it even better, the Indian men's hockey team defeated reigning Olympic champions Argentina 3-1 to secure their place in the quarter-final. On the other hand, shooters Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat finished 5th and 25th, respectively, in the first qualification stage.
However, the biggest disappointment came in the boxing ring as six-time world champion MC Mary Kom was knocked out in the round of 16 as she lost to Colombia's Ingrit Valencia.
