Pro Kabaddi Season 8 to start on December 22

Pro Kabaddi’s Season 8 is all set to start on December 22 with matches to be played at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournament will be held within the biosecure bubble to ensure safety of the players. According to Pro Kabaddi's official website, government-mandated COVID-19 guidelines will be in place and specialised agencies are set to be employed for maintaining the necessary hygiene throughout the duration of the league.

The announcement marks the return of Pro Kabaddi after a hiatus of close to two years.

PKL Season 8 is expected to conclude in March 2022. Pro Kabaddi is expected to confirm the schedule of the tournament soon.

“Bengaluru has all the facilities needed for conducting big, competitive sports events, with best safety practices. We look forward to demonstrating this with PKL Season 8,” Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner of Pro Kabaddi said in a statement.

The Pro Kabaddi 2021 auction was held in Mumbai late in August where Pardeep Narwal became the costliest player in the history of Pro Kabaddi after being snapped for INR 1.65 crores by U.P. Yoddha.

Siddharth Desai (INR 1.30 crores) and Arjun Deshwal (96 lakhs) were the other top earners bought by Telugu Titans and Jaipur Pink Panthers respectively.

Mohit Chhillar, Ran Singh and Vishal Mane were some of the renowned players who went unsold during the three-day auction cycle.

Bengal Warriors are the defending champions after winning their maiden Pro Kabaddi title in Season 7.

Teams are set to begin their training and gear up towards the new season by mid-October.
