Gladbach, Bayern lock horns in 2021-22 DFB-Pokal second round clash - get fantasy tips and predictions
Borussia Monchengladbach (MOB) will host Bayern Munich (BAY) in the second round of the 2021-22 DFB-Pokal at the Borussia-Park in the early hours of Thursday, October 28. The game will kick off at 12:15 AM IST.
MOB vs BAY Dream11 Prediction
Bayern Munich, who routed Bremer SV 12-0 in the first round, will start as favourites against a familiar foe in Borussia Monchengladbach in the second round fixture of 2021-22 DFB Pokal.
The Bundesliga teams played out a 1-1 draw earlier this season in the league, with Robert Lewandowski rescuing the league champions with an equaliser in the 43rd minute.
Bayern, 20-time winners of the DFB-Pokal, have won each of their seven meetings against Monchengladbach in the competition.
MOB vs BAY Dream11 team tips for 2021-22 DFB-Pokal
Top tip: Best forward
Robert Lewandowski is not showing any signs of slowing down, with the Poland star scoring 17 goals in 13 competitive games in the 2021-22 season. The 33-year-old, though, has scored only twice in 19 career meetings against Gladbach, and will hope to make his mark on Thursday’s encounter.
Top tip: Best midfielder
Joshua Kimmich‘s transition into a defensive midfielder continues to bear fruit for Bayern Munich, with the German international already scoring three goals and providing four assists in Bundesliga 2021-22. With Gladbach missing the services of Matthias Ginter, Kimmich could toy around with their defence alongside Marcel Sabitzer and Leroy Sane on either side of the Bayern midfield.
Top tip: Best defender and goalkeeper
The absence of the injured Matthias Ginter means the pressure will fall on the shoulders of young centre-back Jordan Beyer. The 21-year-old has started six games in the Bundesliga this term and needs to stitch a rock-solid partnership with Nico Elvedi to halt the rampaging Robert Lewandowski.
When it comes to goalkeepers, Manuel Neuer is the first-choice pick. The Bayern captain has registered six clean sheets across all competitions this season and will look to keep the likes of Alassane Plea at bay on Thursday.
MOB vs BAY probable playing XI
MOB playing XI (probable): Yann Sommer (goalkeeper), Joe Scally, Jordan Beyer, Nico Elvedi, Ramy Bensebaini, Denis Zakaria, Manu Kone, Luca Netz, Jonas Hofmann, Lars Stindl (captain), Alassane Plea
BAY playing XI (probable): Manuel Neuer (goalkeeper and captain), Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Niklas Süle, Lucas Hernandez, Marcel Sabitzer, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman, Robert Lewandowski
