A 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC on Saturday, February 13, surely put a massive dent on FC Goa's ambitions of qualifying for the Indian Super League 2020-21 playoffs, but that certainly wasn't the highlight of the game. Goa captain, Edu Bedia, has put himself under the prospect of getting a lengthy ban after footage of him biting Chennaiyin's Deepak Tangri emerged on social media.

The incident took place during the 95th minute when both Bedia and Tangri went for a header. Tangri landed on Bedia and as he was trying to get up, the former Zaragoza midfielder was caught biting the Indian on the stomach. According to the AIFF Disciplinary Code, misconduct against opponents or persons (elbowing, punching, kicking etc) other than match officials (49.d)' calls for at least two-match ban. Article 49.e states at least six matches for spitting at an opponent or a person other than a match official.

According to the reports, Chennaiyin FC have already filed their complaint to the AIFF and have also submitted the evidence. According to Article 78 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code, "the committee can sanction serious infringements which have escaped the match officials’ attention."

Chennaiyin manager Csaba Laszlo was asked about the incident during his post-match interview, and the 57-year-old said, "You have to ask Deepak Tangri what happened there with Edu Bedia."

The incident has rightly gathered major traction amongst football fans, and they haven't backed out in drawing Bedia's comparison with former Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez, who has been accused of similar behaviour several times in the past.
