Borussia Dortmund won't sell Jadon Sancho 'below his value'
Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke has made it clear that they won’t keep Jadon Sancho against his will at the club.
Jadon Sancho, 20, is considered as one of the hottest properties in football and the English youngster has been rattling the net on a regular basis in the Bundesliga this season. He has started 23 matches in the league, scoring 14 and assisting 16 goals in the process.
His form has indeed been noticed by the big guns including Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Bayern Munich are also in the list, and Watzke has said that he will respect whatever the player decides to do.
"You always have to respect what the player wants. We already said before corona that our preference is for Jadon to remain with us,” said Watzke.
He has also ruled out any chance of “bargains” under the current financial scenario across the world. "I can say clearly that even the very rich clubs, despite the current existential crisis, shouldn't think they can get a bargain from us. We don't have to sell anyone below their value.”
Sancho has recently signed a new contract with Dortmund that keeps him at the club till the summer of 2022, and it is said that any club looking to sign him will have to pay roughly 130 million euros compared to a meagre 8 million euros that Dortmund paid Manchester City in 2017. Although Manchester United are looking strong contenders to sign Sancho, it will be highly unlikely that the young wingman will settle for anything less than Champions League football.
