Virtual Five5 Cricket World Cup 2020: Talking points from Day 5
The final day of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Cup 2020 league stage once again had 18 games that were played out throughout the day on April 11. In the following, we highlight some of the key moments from various games that took place on Saturday.
IND did not have the best of starts to the day as they were first kept to a moderate total of just 35 despite having nine wickets in hand, and in reply, AUS chased down the target with almost two overs to spare, making it a very convincing win.
ENG opted to bat first against BAN and put up a fighting total of 42/1 in their 5 overs. BAN lost three wickets but riding on Tamim Ikbal's 10-ball 16, they won the game by seven wickets.
IND's day went from bad to worse when they failed to chase down a target of 42 and went onto lose the game by eight runs. BAN posted 41/3 in the first innings and IND lost four wickets while trying to chase down the target and could only post 33 on the board.
With a monumental opening stand of 42, SA set a comprehensive total of 63/2. AFG in reply never lost a wicket but neither got any closer to the target than 33/0.
After Ian Morgan equalled India's total of 46/2, James Buttler's 14 off just five balls set the opposition a daunting target of 18 to win the one-over eliminator. IND lost both of their wickets with just seven runs in the over.
PAK managed to end the tournament on a high, but they needed Hassan Ali to score six runs to take his team to 32/5. A couple of wickets from Iman Wasem's had previously restricted BAN to 30/6.
