Virat Kohli has revolutionised the approach to diet in professional cricket and what he eats and does not eat generates plenty of interest among fans as well. In a recent Instagram session, the Indian cricket team captain revealed that he eats eggs too, leading to murmurs on social media over how a vegan could have eggs in his diet.

All the speculation even prompted Virat Kohli to issue a clarification saying that he had never claimed that he followed a vegan diet in the first place. “I never claimed to be vegan. Always maintained I'm vegetarian. Take a deep breath and eat your veggies (if you want),” Kohli tweeted.

This is what Kohli had initially said about his diet that prompted the speculation on social media. "Lot of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of coffee, dal, quinoa, lots of spinach," he had said.

The belief that Kohli is vegan has caught on in recent years. But this is what the India skipper had said in October 2019. “Saw game-changers on Netflix. Being a vegetarian athlete has made me realise what I have believed all these years regarding diet was a myth. What an amazing documentary and yes I’ve never felt better in my life after I turned vegetarian,” Kohli had written in a tweet.

The 32-year old had completely transformed the way he ate and trained after the 2012 Indian T20 League when he was “disgusted” with the way he looked.

Virat Kohli is currently in quarantine in Mumbai ahead of the Indian team’s departure for the tour of England on Thursday. India will first take on New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in Southampton later this month, followed by a five-match Test series against the hosts in August and September at Trent Bridge, Lord’s, Headingley, The Oval and Old Trafford.
