Delhi's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League for at least a week due to to a recent hamstring injury. Pant was absent during Delhi's five-wicket defeat against Mumbai on Sunday, and a certain Alex Carey deputed his in absence.

Speaking about the hard-hitting batsman, captain Shreyas Iyer confirmed that he has been advised to rest for a week and the team will then evaluate his fitness. "We have no idea (on Rishabh's availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong," Iyer said at the post match presentation ceremony. "Hope he comes back strongly after this break."

Delhi were forced to drop their middle-order batsman, Shimron Hetmyer against Delhi as Ajinkya Rahane made his way at No.3. Alex Carey kept the wicket. For Pant, he was seen limping during Delhi 46-run victory over Rajasthan on Friday after dismissing Varun Aaron to win the game for his team.

Pant has been in a mesmerising form in the Indian T20 League this season, scoring 176 runs at an average of 35.20, fourth highest in the team so far. His absence for a week means Hetmyer is likely to miss the upcoming games as the only wicketkeeper Delhi have is Alex Carey. And with Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje certain to make it to the starting XI, Delhi are left with no choice anyway.
