India took firm control of the second Test match in Chennai on Day 3 as England cricket team chases a steep 429 runs with seven wickets in hand and two days remaining. After an early batting collapse, Ravichandran Ashwin and Virat Kohli’s 96-run partnership helped India set a mammoth 482-run target.

After his five-wicket haul in the first innings that helped the Indian cricket team reduce England to just paltry 134 runs, Ashwin showed everyone how to bat on the supposedly “unplayable” pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as he brought up his first Test ton at home and fifth in his international career.

Twitteratti couldn’t stay calm as they hailed the all-rounder who has been the sparkling difference between the two teams having numerous stalwarts.

While Ashwin hogged most of the limelight for his gritty century, Monday also witnessed some classy wicket-keeping by England's Ben Foakes and a gritty knock by captain Kohli at the most opportune time.

While Kohli and Ashwin stayed at the crease throughout most of the day, England stars had little to do in the field. Ben Stokes, though, still found a way to entertain the fifty per cent of the fans at the stands of the stadium.

India will look to wrap up the Test match on Tuesday after Axar Patel and Ashwin struck thrice to send Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley and Jack Leach back to the pavilion before the end of day's play.
