After Australia fired the opening salvo by winning the first ODI, Eoin Morgan and his men replied with a fitting comeback victory to level the series with a 24-run win.
Heading into the all-important third and final ODI of the series, it's all to play for now as England hope to parlay their winning momentum into a clean sweep of Australia's tour, having clinched the T20I series earlier, and maintain their No. 1 spot in the ODI rankings.
Australia, however, is expected to have Steven Smith, who was sidelined with an injury, back in their battle plan for the all-important third ODI.
Like in the first two matches, the spinners will be critical to a winning effort from either side, with Australia's Adam Zampa and England's Adil Rashid shining in the previous encounter.
