Chris Gayle becomes first player to hit 350 sixes in Indian T20 League
On Monday, April 12, Punjab batsman Chris Gayle became the first player to hit 350 sixes in the history of the Indian T20 League. The hard-hitting West Indian achieved the feat off Ben Stokes' delivery in the eighth over.
After Punjab's opening matching in 2021, Chris Gayle scored 2,106 of his 4812 Indian T20 League runs in sixes alone. That’s 42.85 per cent of all his runs in sixes.
The 41-year-old, who has played for as many as three Indian T20 League franchises in his career, took a mere 133 matches to reach the milestone. He is, in fact, significantly ahead in the list, with Bangalore's AB de Villiers sitting second in the list with 237 sixes in 170 matches. Chennai captain MS Dhoni follows suit with 216 sixes, while Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma (214) and Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli (201) complete the list.

Apart from the aforementioned record, Gayle also has the opportunity to surpass several other milestones. For the starter, he needs 188 runs to complete 5000 runs in the Indian T20 League. If achieved, he will become only the sixth player to reach the milestone. Furthermore, he is just 14 sixes away from completing 100 sixes for Team Punjab. Punjab will be the second Indian T20 League team for Gayle for whom he would complete 100 sixes. He has hit 239 sixes for Bangalore.
