The Bangladesh cricket team will host New Zealand in a five-match T20I series starting on Wednesday, September 1.

The Tigers, who will play the Black Caps in a T20I bilateral series for the first time on home soil, are currently enjoying a comfortable 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against Australia. The hosts will look to extend their resurgence in the shortest format of the game against New Zealand.

Furthermore, Bangladesh will be eager to exact revenge for their 0-3 drubbing at the hands of the Kiwis when the Asian team toured New Zealand in March this year.

Bangladesh will most probably see the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal return for the series after recuperating from injuries and undergoing quarantine.

As for New Zealand, the Black Caps will be in action for their first international assignment since winning the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

The Kiwis, who are ranked third in the T20I team rankings, have won all of their 10 meetings with Bangladesh and will eye a positive series result to aid their preparations for the upcoming T20I World Cup in October.

The five-match BAN vs NZ T20I series will be played entirely at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
