Captaincy in cricket can sometimes be an arduous task that can weigh down several players and affect their performances. While leading their team or country is regarded as an honour for many, not everyone takes to captaincy like a duck to water. However, here we explore the best and most successful skippers in the T20 format.

Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan holds the record for being the most successful captain in T20 cricket. It is a surprising name that tops the list considering the fact that Afghanistan became a full member of the ICC only in 2017 and has been an affiliate member since 2013.

Rohit Sharma is sixth on the list having skippered Team India and Indian T20 League side Mumbai.

Interestingly, T20 bigwigs like MS Dhoni, Eoin Morgan, and Aaron Finch aren’t in the top 10 most successful captains in the format.

Virat Kohli who recently stepped down as India’s T20 captain led India in 45 matches, winning 27 and losing 14.

Dwyane Bravo jumped to eighth spot in the all-time most successful T20 captains after leading his side St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to a Caribbean Premier League title earlier this week.

The below list accounts for T20 captaincy at both the international level as well as franchise cricket.
