English skipper Joe Root became the leading century-scorer in India versus England Tests on Thursday, August 26. Root's 121 in the first innings of the third Test of India’s tour of England helped his side gain a healthy lead.

The England captain’s century was his eighth Test ton against India, which means he has now surpassed the greats like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sir Alastair Cook. He also registered his sixth Test hundred in 2021 to join the list of English cricketers to score most hundreds in a calendar year.

Earlier, in the second Test at Lord's, the Yorkshire-born Joe Root had scored a record-breaking unbeaten 180 to become the second-youngest to 9,000 Test runs behind Sir Alastair Cook. He also completed 2,000 Test runs against India during that knock.

Here's the list of most centuries made by a batsman in England versus India Tests.
