Arch-rivals India and Pakistan have once again been drawn in the same group for the 2021 International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup in the UAE in October-November.

Considering the history and rivalry between the two nations, we can expect another riveting India vs Pakistan cricket contest, when they lock horns to determine T20 supremacy in a few months. That said, India and Pakistan will square off for the first time in the T20I format after five years.

The two teams first met in 1952, when Pakistan toured India for a five-match Test series. The hosts won the series 2-1. Since then, both countries have engaged in several Test, ODI and T20I matches. However, it is not to be forgotten that India and Pakistan haven’t crossed paths in any international game since the 50 over World Cup in 2019.

However, due to the political tensions and multiple wars between the two nations, over the years, cricket suffered as both sides were ordered to abandon any cricketing ties with each other.

India and Pakistan have locked horns on 199 occasions on the international level to date. While Pakistan have a better head-to-head record over India in Tests and ODIs, they are yet to beat their rivals in a 20 or 50 over ICC World Cup.
