Romero signs four-year Spurs deal after Europa win

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero has signed a new four-year deal that keeps him at the club until 2029. The 27-year-old led Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years, captaining the side to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final on 21 May 2025, where he was named Man of the Match.
Romero, who joined from Atalanta in 2021, has made 126 appearances and scored eight goals for Spurs. He was named club captain by new boss Thomas Frank, who praised Romero’s leadership and the respect he commands in the dressing room, noting how he sets standards on and off the pitch.
Romero said he was very happy and added, 'For me, this club is the best in the world.' His new deal comes after right back Djed Spence, 25, also signed fresh terms that run until 2028.
