Farewell, Goodison: Everton bids goodbye with historic win

Everton played their final match at Goodison Park on Sunday, May 18, ending 133 years at their much-loved home. The game ended in a 2-0 win over Southampton, thanks to a strong performance by Iliman Ndiaye, who scored both goals. He was the last male Everton player to score at the stadium.
A well-deserved tribute to Goodison
The final day was full of emotion as 39,201 fans gathered to pay tribute to Everton’s good old home ground. Songs, cheers, and blue flags filled the air as supporters showed their love for the club and the ground that has seen so many highs and lows.
After the game, Everton legends like Joe Royle, Peter Reid, and Neville Southall joined a tribute on the pitch. Andy Gray even remarked, ‘We are all leaving Goodison but Goodison will never leave us’. Fans stayed back to honour the club’s past and look forward to its future.
Everton will move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season. While this is a big change, Goodison’s story will still go on. Everton Women will continue to use the stadium.
